Willa | Personal Assistant to the Assistant Manager
Polyesthers Costume BoutiqueYears of Industry Service: 8It was a super hot day when I walked into Polyesthers two weeks ago. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I passed through the door, what I found was beyond my expectations. I was greeted by a young girl wearing a long cape, a fedora and skeleton pants. “Welcome to Polyesthers, can I help you find anything today??” I wasn’t there to shop, but this welcoming almost made me re-think the need for a new tutu and leg warmers. I introduced myself to this young helper and got right down to business. Willa, (with her mom’s permission) agreed to be interviewed for the blog. The sense of pretend and play is truly alive in this store, not just for Willa but for anyone who walks in the door. I asked Willa about her work at the store and what her favorite part about life in the Costume Boutique. She quickly started to list; moving posters and mannequins, sweeping and helping with the displays. Willa eagerly and politely gave me the grand tour of the space. I was introduced to the shop dog, Jack, a large and very sweet black pit-bull who I have heard loves to sport a large pink bow around his neck on occasion. Willa told me all about the lemonade stand grand opening on July 18th during the Midtown Art walk (are you going?!) and proudly showed me the change purse she had recently sewn using the serger in the back (they also make custom creations and costumes for the store and customers here) It was a hoot to watch this young person wander around the store and adjust merchandise as she continued to chat with me about all things “Polyesther”. I know where I am going the next time I need some dress up clothes, I hope Willa is there to be my helper as I shop. http://creativecoalitionreno.com/blog/meet-midtown-willa/
